Managing Partner | AMA
Andy Shaw RIBA is an architect based in Dubai. He is the Managing Partner at AMA (www.ama.design). AMA is a boutique design studio, designers of the new landmark ‘Yacht Club’ in Dubai Harbour and 3 towers for Emaar in Dubai Hills. He is currently working on new urban districts in Saudi Arabia, and a large scale national housing programme in the UAE using pre-fabrication.
He is the elected Chair of the RIBA Gulf Chapter, helping grow the design community and create events including the regionally focused Sustainability Series, technology showcases and building tours.
He is a Visiting Professor of Architecture having taught a multi-disciplinary climate change course and professional practice at Heriot Watt University, Dubai, and Urban Design at the American University of Dubai.
He is also co-chairing the Technology Cluster of CESC (Centre of Excellence in Smart Construction) on the decarbonization of concrete programme for the UAE government.
Andy is passionate about how combining innovative technology and sustainable design can improve the built environment for all citizens, whilst addressing the emerging climate emergency.
