It is the largest wastewater treatment plant in the world, surpassing Bahr El-Baqar treatment plant, which holds the record for the largest treatment plant in the world with a capacity of 5.6 million m3/day according to Guinness World Records. An official request is being presented now to GWR to be recorded as the largest wastewater treatment plant in the world in terms of capacity = 7,500,000m3/day and also in terms of area = 320600m2
